Los trabajos han sido presentados en la 274 reuni\u00f3n de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Sociedad Americana de Qu\u00edmica<\/strong><\/a>, reunida esta semana en Dallas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00abLas bater\u00edas de litio-aire son ligeras y ofrecen una gran cantidad de energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica\u00bb, dijo<strong> Nobuyuki Imanishi,<\/strong> de la <strong>Universidad de Mie<\/strong> (Jap\u00f3n). \u00abMuchos esperan que puedan ser utilizadas alg\u00fan d\u00eda en veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0 La principal diferencia entre las bater\u00edas de iones de litio y litio-aire es que la segunda reemplaza el c\u00e1todo tradicional -un componente clave de la bater\u00eda implicado en el flujo de la corriente el\u00e9ctrica- con aire. Actualmente hay cuatro dise\u00f1os de electrolitos, uno de los cuales implica agua. La ventaja de este dise\u00f1o \u00abacuoso\u00bb sobre los dem\u00e1s es que protege el litio de la interacci\u00f3n con los gases en la atm\u00f3sfera y permite reacciones r\u00e1pidas en el electrodo de aire. La desventaja es que el agua en contacto directo con el litio puede da\u00f1arlo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0 Viendo el potencial de la versi\u00f3n acuosa de la bater\u00eda de litio-aire, el equipo de Imanishi abord\u00f3 esta cuesti\u00f3n. A\u00f1adir un material de protecci\u00f3n para el metal de litio es un enfoque, pero esto normalmente disminuye la energ\u00eda de la bater\u00eda. As\u00ed que desarrollaron un enfoque por capas, intercalando un electrolito de pol\u00edmero con alta conductividad y un electrolito s\u00f3lido entre el electrodo de litio y la soluci\u00f3n acuosa.
